We Rise 02:22
Every day I wake up it feels just like a war We struggle to overcome, but our problems grow more and more We did things the right way, but our efforts were in waste This daily struggle leaves us with nothing but a bitter taste Through all this disappointment and pain, We Remain Go to bed fighting, wake up and do the same, We Remain When our anxieties multiply, We Rise Even in the hardest of times, we survive, We Rise Every night I go to bed, anxieties fill my mind A solution to our problems, I can’t seem to find As I struggle through another in a line of sleepless nights I wonder and wonder where I can find some greater insight Even if all I have is you That’s enough to make it through
2.
I was ten years old when you first came into view. Watched you arrive from hell like the devil was chasing you. No money, no possessions, just the will to survive You came the world over and forever enriched our lives Immigrants, citizens, the undocumented, one and the same God-given humanity trumps everything, no matter the tribe you claim We built these artificial borders, drew the lines, and built these walls Embrace difference, reject hatred, let every self-imposed barrier fall With sweaty brow, sun-worn skin, and calloused hands, Day after day, you pushed the shovel into fertile lands. Toiled in factories and sweatshops lined row by row, So your kids wouldn’t go to school hungry in their donated clothes Diaspora-United as one Refugees-United as one Undocumented-United as one
3.
Disaffected youth with nothing to lose No faith in authority, we made our own rules Young and disaffected but not purposeless Fight for each other and screw the rest Frustrated with an unjust society we didn’t create Relied on criminal tactics to even the slate. My mind wanders back to a time When all we had was Juvenile Crime Through every fence jumped and every alley ran through You stood by me and I stood by you We raged united against those who held us back Our grievances shown in every attack Took no quarter, fought back the best way we could Vandals causing a ruckus in the neighborhood
4.
When it came time to choose gang colors you chose blue a gun, a badge, ready excuses for the things you do You hide behind your thick as thieves blue line as you commit and cover up for your "brothers" crimes What will break the Thin Blue Line? Who will pay for your crimes? quick to harass, quicker to shoot, when your “brother” commits a crime you turn mute. World’s biggest gang, you serve and protect the few, You claim to protect the public, but who will protect us from you As you harass and target the mentally ill and minorities and treat the public like some incurable disease Do what I say and you will survive, Do what i say and you still might not leave alive

We are from Canada and the U.S. We are blatantly anti- fascist/anti-racist/Pro-Immigrant and
proud of it. The songs on "The Walls they build.... The Walls We Break," concern issues like the stress and anxiety that come from fearing deportation, the contributions made by immigrant communities, youth crime, and police harassment and brutality.
